Kiwi definition
Kiwi in Forex
Kiwi is the colloquial name for the New Zealand Dollar (NZD), coined after the flightless Kiwi bird featured on the island nation’s $1 coin. In forex pairs the NZD is often referred to as the ‘Kiwi.’
Why does New Zealand have a picture of a Kiwi on its money?
The kiwi bird has long been a cultural symbol to the indigenous Maori people of mainland New Zealand. Overtime the bird became recognized as the national symbol of New Zealand, and after WW1 the rest of the world began referring to all New Zealanders as ‘Kiwis.’
